KBS has created a significant investment into a unique coating technology "High Solid Single Component Moisture Cured Urethane" which allows a never seen before level of performance in protective coatings. The research had multiple goals with the protective coatings starting from adhesion to the material and finishing with its durability combined with very low VOC to minimise any environmental impact.
Through advances in material science KBS was able to formulate its coatings with not just exceptional adhesion but with the ability to form Covalent Bonding on to the material being protected. Covalent bonding allows for ultimate adhesion to the surface by sharing electrons between the protective coating and the material. RustSeal penetrates the surface of the material creating a complete barrier, together with covalent bonding ensuring the strength of the adhesion, RustSeal has become the most advanced protective barrier available on the market today.

Residual surface moisture is being used by KBS coatings to cure itself promoting increased adhesion and eliminating any possibility of oxidisation.

Protective coatings industry traditionally has 2 product types that satisfy most of the requirements – HARD or FLEXIBLE. Both of these product types have their specific applications in the industry together with their downturns. The main difference between the two types are their physical properties the harder the coating the more brittle it is with the opposite being true – the more flexible the coating is the softer it tends to becomes. A great example to this is a epoxy coating, it tends to be very hard but cracks with even the smallest movement.
So in most real life applications you are looking for a coating to be both hard and flexible at the same time "TOUGH" – say an undercarriage of a car experiences high vibration (requires flexibility) and is constantly being bombarded by small road projectiles (has to be tough). KBS has found an ingenious solution to this problem – special formulation combined with high solid content and has all the links in the right places within the coating, this combined with more of them in all directions.
This affect is called CROSS LINKING. KBS coatings are highly crossed linked much more so than regular coatings. This allows KBS coatings to be super tough and at the same time remain flexible without breaking its bond to the material, becoming the most advanced and versatile protective coating on the market today.
